BAKORI LOCAL GOVERNMENT

LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AREA ACTIVITIES, 1999-2007

 

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

In May 1989 Bakori Local Government Council was created out of the Funtua Local Government. The local Government has two district heads: Makaman Katsina and Jarman Katsina of Bakori and Tsiga respectively.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT CONTRIBUTION

• Construction of 2 additional classrooms in all parts of the Local Government Area.
• Rehabilitation of 34 Primary Schools within the Local Government Area.
• Provision of furniture to Primary Schools
• construction of Three blocks of 28 classrooms storey building at pilot Primary School
• Payment of fees for Qur’anic recitation competition and Common Entrance Examination.

 

ROLE OF TRADITIONAL RULERS

• Sensitization of communities on the importance of Girls Child Education in particular and Education in general.
• Mobilizing communities in helping towards enrolment drive in their areas.

 

INDIVIDUALS CONTRIBUTIONS :

• Award of scholarship to Primary School pupils former Senator M.T Liman and Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Yusuf former NFA Secretary.
• Provision of textbooks and Exercise books to Primary Schools by Arc. Zubairu Ahmed Bakori and Retired Commissioner of Police, Akilu Garba Bakori.
• Payment of fees for Science and Technical Examination By A.S.D Motors Kaduna.

 

 

SCHOOLS PTA CONTRIBUTION

• Donation of furniture to schools
• Construction of Pit toilets/ classrooms
• Minor repairs of some damages in the schools.
• Provision of first Aid Boxes to schools.

 

IFAD CONTRIBUTION

Construction of classrooms at Unguwar Gamji and sensitizing and mobilizing communities on the importance of Education.

 

UNICEF ACTIVITIES

• Organizing workshop to sensitize teachers on the activities of UNICEF.
• Organizing workshop for School Based management Committee.
• Construction of boreholes in 20 GEP schools
• Construction of VIP pit toilets the GEP schools.

 

UBEC CONTRIBUTION

• Construction of blocks of classrooms
• Provision of Instructional Materials to schools.

 

WORLD BANK ASSISTED PRJECT

Textbooks in core subjects that is English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science were provided to improve education.

 

WORLD RECEIVE IN QUIZ, DEBAT6E AND JETS

Two boys From Pilot Primary School came first in 2005 State JETS Competition and represent the State at the national Level Competition hold at Akure, Ondo State. They emerged first where they were given tickets for excursion trip to South Africa accompanied by the Chairman SUBEB Alh. Shehu Inuwa Imam. The boys are:

• Abdullahi Usman and
• Saddam Mahmud.

Similarly in the year 2003 Katsina State Merit Award competition, Ramalan Model Primary School came second out of Forty Primary School across the state.
